Three Cheers for Lent!

For those of you non-Catholics out there, Lent starts Wednesday, February 17th. For those of you heathens out there, Lent is the traditional purpose of the preparation of the believer — through prayer, penitence, almsgiving and self-denial — for the annual commemoration during Holy Week of the Death and Resurrection of Jesus, which recalls the events linked to the Passion of Christ and culminates in Easter, the celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. I, being extra holy and righteous (bah.) have started Lent three days earlier than expected at least in the area of self-denial. I have given up Facebook and carbohydrates (breads and such…) until Easter and the celebration of resurrection of our Lord.

If you feel so inclined (whoever you are) you should join me in this undertaking of a pure sacrament of our faith. Post a comment after you’ve prayed about whether to consciously undertake this Lent season! Peace.

  1. Being a former Catholic, I still practice Lent. This year I am fasting from the internet on my phone and looking up phone websites… just a waste of time. Then I am going to do something with my free time that is new… maybe write an essay or something. Just not sure on what.

May your every denial of sweets point you to worship Jesus at that moment!

  2. Thanks Evan! After more prayer I have modified my fasting. May your every denial of the internet always at your fingers bring you more intimacy with Christ and remind you of his cross!
